A specialist in western and East Asian book history and a bibliographer, Devin completed their Ph.D. in History and East Asian Languages at Harvard University. Devin was a 2015 Andrew W. Mellon Fellow in Critical Bibliography and received additional training at both the University of Virginia and California Rare Book Schools. 
 
Their research interests included the history of printing, comparative book history, and translation. They are currently working on a book length study of global history of the paper book.
